It has to be said, an awful lot is tied up in the disgraceful human being that is Ali Dizaei. He represents in a very direct way the Metropolitan Police and the way it works today and his conviction (again) highlights what is wrong with the police, in a way that is as accurate as Macpherson was wrong.
The Metropolitan Police Service bumbles along from day to day hoping desperately that nothing unusual happens, to test their abilities. This is because the senior ranks have absolutely no idea about policing, from what the force (rather than 'service') exists for, how to do its job, right up to planning for the unexpected. When faced with fast moving situations we get Cressida Dick and Jean Charles de Menezes. (Cressida, by the way has been further promoted above her ability and is currently running the persecution of journalists at News International).
The Met today are politically corrupt, politically correct and social welfare oriented. Every action is considered against its PR value. And so Ali Dizaei, with his ability to shout 'racist' whenever it suited him and garnering serious attention from people who should know better, carried on his criminal activities with a kind of passive acquiescence from the numbskulls above him.
He is also living proof that senior officers in the Met generally don't actually do anything, if such proof were needed, what with the levels of crime and occurrences such as the summer riots.
Here is something most modern police don't know; the police can consider that they have succeeded in their role by the absence of crime, rather than by their level of activity, responding to crime

This Is Life
Stunning news today that the Met police spent over £100,000 on directory enquiries and the speaking clock(!) This in an age when the accuracy of your wristwatch, or mobile phone even, is to a degree of seconds a month and phone numbers are available, free, online. These are the people who are supposed to protect us and chase down criminals. There may not have been an actual rise in crime, maybe it is just that these dimwits can't prevent or catch.
Doctors are planning to strike, for the first time in 30 years. It is tough today for the medical profession, as politics takes up so much of their time. Not just the meddling of central government, but their own wheeling and dealing for advantage. No longer the preening Consultants who demand respect and sweep through hospitals like gods, but salary seekers, ever concerned with their pay, the new arbiter of prestige. GP's are formidably better off now than ever before and offer the lowest service ever.
Hospitals can no longer treat patients, or in fact even see them. Nurses are too important to actually do the job they are employed for and doctors sit in little specialisms, warring with each other and with management, with no application of the principle of treating the 'whole patient'.
And now we hear of the latest turmoil in the financial world. Well the political/financial world. The markets aren't too sure about the IMF's $1 trillion fund. We seem to have a strange disconnect as we are constantly told what the politico's think should be done and then 'the market' gives its reaction as if a) it were sage (no pun intended) and b) not self serving. The market can make money by betting on failure as much as saying 'ooh, that's a good idea'.
Because papers don't pay journalists to think and most of them seem happy to oblige, we are led to believe a great many contradictory things. So let's keep it simple. The EU is destroying world finances because you cannot have independent countries tying their currencies together. The ignorant approach of politicians in France and Germany trying to prop up a political empire is pure farce. Whilst the Euro is held as an ideal state for European finances there can be no resolution.
The IMF and the World Bank are irrelevant. The sums they talk of don't exist in a single place and it isn't a credible stance. Countries supposedly 'supplying' their share, simply won't. They haven't over Greece and they won't ever. Printing banknotes is a cover, not a cure. There are way too many idiots in politics today and politicians just talk to themselves, they have forgotten what their real role is, whilst concentrating on their own importance.
Until these people come back into the real world nothing will improve and both predatory capitalists and socialists will stalk their prey. Which is you and me. Socialists seek to control, over money, lives and every aspect of life. Capitalists just want to get rich and the more chaotic society is, as a result of socialism trying to take over, the better they like it. No one is watching them.

Immorality
With the level of organisation being seen in some aspects of these 'riots' it would seem that the lefts' 'useful idiots' have been given a different motivation. In every left inspired campaign, the 'revolutionaries' always lie to get support whether in Vietnam of Tottenham. Here however, a direct appeal to the underclass desire for branded consumer goods has brought them onto the streets to cause the mayhem their masters seek.
The proposed 'cuts' should be thought through again. A reasonable society would cut back on police spending along with everything else, but we have had 13 years of New Labour unpicking the fabric of a decent society and so cannot call ourselves a reasonable society at present. So no, the Armed Forces need strengthening and the police need their budgets at least maintained (but get rid of Blairism in the force and introduce efficiency).
Savings really can be made (and a lot of people have put themselves forward by looting) by reducing and deleting the benefits of those who do not and will not contribute to their community, let alone those who destroy it. Cameron should protect and enhance those organs of state that we need and serve us well and get rid of the rest. No more pussy footing around with Westminster bubble politics, face the real world. Get out of the EU. Stop building pointless wind farms and stop believing in the 'carbon reduction' tripe the same people who organised the rioting came up with.

Whilst Richard Curtis may feel comfortable with murdering people who oppose his point of view, I am sure many people who haven't thought too much about Global Warming, do believe what they have been fed. But a lot of the real pushers are motivated by anything but the pains of the planet. They have used it to push an agenda of hate, designed to undermine Western capitalism and democracy. Independent Police Complaints Commission
I have made comment previously about IPCC reports and some of the shocking things police do and that are above criticism by the IPCC. I was thinking the other day though in the context of government departments having a careless attitude to their duty to the public, that I perhaps hadn't highlighted this failing by the IPCC.
In one report I cited, a police officer discharged a high velocity round inside a house and it was lucky that the walls were brick otherwise it could have entered the next house. The IPCC couldn't bring itself to criticise overall strategy or notice the way police deploy weapons.
On the whole, I think there is a tendency to look down on US law enforcement as less civilised than what we have here, not least because US police officers are routinely armed. But quite a few officers in the UK are armed too and there is an important difference to consider. In the US, officers carry a side arm and often have a shotgun in their vehicle. These are low velocity weapons deemed appropriate, where lethal force is necessary, to the urban environment. Basically the bullets carry less energy and won't go through walls etc.
In Britain however, this wholly sensible notion is frequently ignored as our armed police carry higher velocity MP5 carbines. These military grade weapons are singularly inappropriate for the urban environment. They are compact enough to be used, but the energy of rounds discharged is too high. Think about the dramatic 'armed arrests' you see on the TV. A man is dragged out of a car and forced to lie on the ground while officers point their MP5's at him, tucked tight into their shoulder and cheek. Lord alone knows where a high velocity round penetrating right through the body and striking the pavement would end up, should they decide to open fire.
The IPCC, senior officers and firearms strategists in the police seem to have no view, opinion or criticism of these practices. The MP5 is able to fire a round twice to four times the distance a pistol could achieve. It is interesting to note the persistent suggestion that the police receive training from the SAS and have also selected one of it's favourite weapons. Yet the SAS are not trained themselves for police actions. They are in fact trained to use extreme violence to achieve their result. Which is exactly what you want on a battlefield, though not necessarily in Bromley. We know this to be the case because of their actions in the Falklands and also in the shooting of IRA terrorists in Gibraltar. One in particular was pursued and falling to the ground was shot at close range repeatedly. The SAS train to kill and to make sure the target is definitely dead. And again, this was exactly the technique used on the completely innocent Jean Charles de Menezes.
That our senior police officers are incompetent is becoming daily more apparent (and not just because of their over-riding social engineering bias) and we let them train and equip themselves to military levels. Add to that the criminally lax oversight by the IPCC and you have a dangerous mix.

Met Police In A Mess
Well, the Metropolitan Police are currently putting up a serious challenge to the Keystone Cops. Imbued with the novel idea that the police, in addition to being social workers in uniform are also a branch of government, we see some decisions of gargantuan stupidity being enacted. Sir Paul Stephenson, another titled for time-served non-entity, resigns but skweams like a child that it is not his fault. Why, he wonders, does it seem wrong to the man in the street that a senior police officer should dine repeatedly with people whom his force is investigating? And why is it inappropriate to hire someone who is also from that organisation? I mean how did he get to hear of Mr Wallis? And how is it that Mr Wallis has 2 days a week free to be a PR consultant to the Met, if he is the busy editor of a large circulation newspaper?
Now Yates too has gone. He seemed someone on whom to rely initially, but after becoming top anti-terrorist dog, he did seem a little shifty in interviews, nothing you could put your finger on but a little shifty. Maybe his mind was on other things. This is all getting very odd and is not helped by the BBC and the Guardian constantly attempting to bring Cameron's name into every item on the phone hacking scandal. Could Coulsen not really know what was going on when he was editor, not least when you consider the scale of the thing? And is it possible that others were not up to the same thing? Most unbelievable of all is that so far Blair and Campbell have managed to stay out of it.

Maybe his mind was on other things.
